To unlock more test opportunities, you'll need to complete a quick practice session. During the practice session, you'll show that you can comfortably share your thoughts (or "think out loud") while following instructions. To give you an idea of what to expect during a real test, the session includes tasks like navigating a website and using your microphone to record your feedback.

When can I take the practice session?
You'll be ready to start your practice session after you:
- Connect a verified PayPal account
- Complete your first paid test
Once you're eligible, the practice session will appear on your Available tests feed.
The practice session is only available on a computer. You'll need to switch to a desktop or laptop to continue.
What will I do during the session?
You’ll need to allow access to your microphone and camera so we can record your session. We only collect what’s needed to review your practice test and confirm that you're comfortable giving feedback. Your recording stays private and isn't shared outside UserTesting.
During the session, you’ll complete a few tasks while speaking your thoughts out loud. A taskbar will guide you through each step and show your progress as you go.
What happens next?
We’ll review your session. This usually takes 4 days, but you can check the status anytime from your Home page. You’ll also get a confirmation email just to let you know we've received your session recording.
If it’s been more than 4 days, the session status will update to Still in review. This can happen when we receive more submissions than usual, but we'll get to your session as soon as we can!
If your session is approved
Great job! You'll notice that your practice session status is now Approved. You can also expect an email from us confirming that we have approved your session. The best part is you’ll now have access to more tests.
If your session isn't approved
That's okay—you can try again. You'll notice that your practice session status is Not approved, and we'll also send you an email with helpful feedback and tips to improve.

What if something goes wrong?
Try these quick fixes:
- Refresh the page
- Update your browser to the latest supported version
- Check that your device meets our system requirements
- Make sure your microphone and camera are connected
- Close any other apps that might be using your microphone or camera
