Sometimes you may get a message that a test is not available in your area, even after you qualify. This usually means we couldn't confirm your location for that test.
In this article:
What this message means
Some tests require a quick location check before you can start.
If that check doesn't complete or pass, you may receive a message that the test isn't available. This doesn't affect your account or future opportunities. You can always return to your test feed and look for another test.
How location verification works
Here's what to expect when a test asks you to verify your location:
When you accept a test, you may briefly get a loading screen while we run some quick checks. This usually only takes a few seconds. If nothing further is needed, you'll move right into the test.
If location is required, you'll get a prompt to verify your location before the test begins.
If you started on a computer, a QR code appears. Scan it with your mobile device to continue. Your computer screen stays open while you finish the remaining steps on your phone.
If you started on your mobile device, select Continue on your device instead.
You'll install the UserTesting app if you don't already have it. Select Go to app store to install it.
Before you're sent to the app store, you'll get a quick reminder: Installing the app is required, and once it's installed, you should return to the instruction page with Step 1 and Step 2. Do not open the app.
Once you've installed the app (or confirmed you already have it), return to the previous screen with the instructions and select Verify location.
Then select Continue to start the check.
Select Allow While Using App to confirm your location, and keep the app open on this screen while the check runs.
Once your location is confirmed, you're all set.
If you started on a computer, return to that browser tab. You'll see a confirmation that your location is verified, and you can continue to the test from there.
If you started on your mobile device, return to the UserTesting app.
Things to check
Run through these steps to make sure everything is set up correctly:
When prompted, you'll need to allow location access on your device.
If you selected Don't Allow or previously turned this off, the check won't complete.
Your device must have location services enabled. If you're not sure how to check, follow your device's instructions:
After turning on location services, try the test again.
Switching devices or browsers during setup can interrupt the process.
- Start and finish on the same device
- Use the same browser the whole time
If you were asked to install the UserTesting app:
- Install the app from the app store
- Then return to your browser to continue
The process won't finish if you stay in the app or don't return to the original tab.
Troubleshooting
Get help with common issues:
If the loading screen doesn't progress after a minute or so, clear your browser's cookies and cache, then try accepting the test again.
If you allowed location access and still got this message, we may not have been able to confirm your location, or the test may not be available where you are.
Still need help?
Return to your dashboard and choose a different test. If you get this message again, review the steps above before retrying.
